Why is a lifelong learning mindset important?
Lifelong learning is not a new concept, but it does require a shift in the collective mindset — from education as a one-off period of time, to education as an ongoing pursuit.41 In addition, as lifelong learning is largely voluntary, a new learning culture must be cultivated, which instills ongoing motivation to learn. For education systems, this means encouraging a mindset that is ready to learn, unlearn and relearn beyond the scope of formal education.
